110th Congress: Action on Budget & Fiscal Responsibility
During the 110th Congress, I have agreed to co-sponsor the following selected measures which deal with policies affecting budget and fiscal responsibility of the federal government. This is not a comprehensive list of all the legislation I have co-sponsored related to budget and fiscal responsibility issues. Legislation I supported includes:
- S. 779, a bill to reauthorize the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000. Introduced March 6, 2007.
- S. 91, a bill to require the Congressional Budget Office and the Joint Committee on Taxation to use dynamic economic modeling in addition to static economic modeling in the preparation of budgetary estimates of proposed changes in Federal revenue law. Introduced January 4, 2007.
- S. 43, a bill to amend Title II of the Social Security Act to preserve and protect Social Security benefits of American workers and to help ensure greater congressional oversight of the Social Security system by requiring that both Houses of Congress approve a totalization agreement before the agreement, giving foreign workers Social Security benefits, can go into effect. Introduced January 4, 2007.
- S. 15, a bill to establish a new budget process to create a comprehensive plan to rein in spending, reduce the deficit, and regain control of the Federal budget process. Introduced May 22, 2007.
- S.Amdt. 17 to S. 1, to establish a legislative line item veto. Introduced January 10, 2007. S. 1 was signed by the President on September 14, 2007.
- S. Amdt. 477 to S.Con.Res. 21, to provide for a budget point of order against legislation that increases income taxes on taxpayers, including hard-working middle-income families, entrepreneurs, and college students. Introduced March 20, 2007.
- S. Amdt. 466 to S.Con.Res. 21, to exclude the extension of tax relief provided in 2001 and 2003 from points of order provided in the resolution and other budget points of order. Introduced March 20, 2007.
- S. Amdt. 709 to H.R. 1591, to reauthorize the secure rural schools and community self-determination program and to provide funding for the payments in lieu of taxes program. Introduced March 27, 2007.
- S. Amdt. 1538 to H.R. 6, to provide for the establishment of a Federal clean portfolio standard. Introduced June 13, 2007.
- S.Amdt. 101 to H.R. 2, to provide Congress a second look at wasteful spending by establishing enhance rescission authority under fast-track procedures. Introduced January 22, 2007.
