Frequently-Asked Questions
What is the Constituent Coffee?
Every Tuesday morning when the Senate is in session, Senator Crapo hosts Idaho State residents who are visiting Washington, DC, to meet him in his office. This "get acquainted" session is an opportunity to meet Senators Crapo Risch.
What happens at the Constituent Coffee?
You'll have a chance to have a picture taken with the Senator. Senator Crapo offers everyone an opportunity to introduce themselves to find out where they're from and what they're interested in. Senator Crapo gives an update on the issues the Senate is currently debating. Finally, Senator Crapo takes questions from constituents. His legislative staff is also available at the coffee.
How do I sign up?
Call my Washington, D.C. office at 202-224-6142. With enough notice, you can also arrange to have a U.S. Capitol tour immediately following the Constituent Coffee. You can make those arrangements at the same time that you RSVP for the Constituent Coffee.
Do I need to dress up for the morning coffee with the Senator?
No. Some guests are here on business. Others are here on vacation. It is not necessary to dress up for the event.
Should I bring my camera so I can get a picture taken with the Senator?
There is no need to do so, as we will have a photographer there to take your photo with the Senator. We will also mail the photo to you. There is not enough time to have people take pictures with their individual cameras.
Will food be available at the morning coffee?
Coffee, orange juice and light refreshments will be available. There is a Coffee Shop in the basement of the Russell Building and a cafeteria in the basement of the Dirksen Building if you wish to purchase additional food.
Can I bring my kids to the coffee? Are students welcome?
Absolutely. Senator Crapo hopes young people will take advantage of this opportunity to connect with their government.
Will I have time to discuss a specific issue with Senator Crapo?
Because of time constraints, the coffee is a "get acquainted" opportunity. While you may be able to ask the Senator a question or share a comment with him, this is not a good opportunity for a detailed discussion that takes time away from other constituents. If you wish to schedule a separate appointment, please do so through Senator Crapo's Executive Assistant; information on making such requests is available here on the Scheduling Information page of this website.
