Washington, D.C.--U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) issued the following statement after voting against the first Fiscal Year 2024 spending package containing a total of six appropriations bills:
“Over five months into this fiscal year, Congress has once again chosen to move 12 annual spending measures in two lump sum all-or-nothing packages. Lumping multiple appropriations bills together without consideration of the merits of each individually and rushing through the process without the opportunity for a robust amendment process is irresponsible. It binds our hands to supporting too many wasteful policies, even amid some good policy. This does not set us on a much-needed path to getting our fiscal house in order.”
