Funds to be used for training, equipment
Washington, DC â??Idaho Senator Mike Crapo announced today that the Mountain Home Rural Fire Department will receive a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant of $48,150 for fire operations and firefighter safety. The funds are provided to assist local fire departments procure the tools and resources necessary to protect the health and safety of the public and their firefighting personnel.â??The beneficiaries of this grant are not only the Mountain Home firefighters, but also the community at large,â?? said Crapo. â??This money will be used for training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, and personal protective equipment, improving the safety and performance of our firefighters. These brave men and women are the first responders in our neighborhoods and communities and they need the support this grant provides.â?? The Assistance for Firefighters Grant Program is administered by the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and assists rural, urban and suburban fire departments throughout the United States. The funds are used by the nationâ??s firefighters to increase the effectiveness of firefighting operations, fire fighter health and safety programs, new fire apparatus, emergency medical service programs, and fire prevention and safety programs. # # #
