U.S. National Debt:

Crapo Announces Committee Assignments for 118th Congress

Washington, D.C.--U.S. Senator for Idaho Mike Crapo has been named to three Senate Committees for the 118th Congress, and will again serve as the top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee.

"Whether it’s addressing our national debt; protecting pro-growth tax reforms; expanding access to affordable, quality health care; or providing equal opportunities in our trade deals, the Finance Committee plays a vital role in shaping our nation’s economy,” said Crapo.  “I look forward to continuing to deliver strong results and representing the needs and values of Idahoans as critical legislation is considered.”

Senator Crapo will serve on three committees for the duration of the 118th Congress:

  • The Senate Committee on Finance, on which Crapo served as the top Republican member in the 117th Congress, is considered one of the most powerful committees in Congress because of its wide-reaching range of jurisdiction, including the federal tax code, revenue generation, foreign trade, social and health care service programs, and the nation’s debt.

Senator Crapo also served, for the tenth consecutive term, as Chairman of the Republicans’ Committee on Committees.  The Committee on Committees negotiated the process of assigning Republican Senators to committees.  The Republican Conference has ratified the assignments and the full Senate is expected to ratify them soon.
