Deadline for summer, fall internships is April 1st
Washington, DC - Idaho Senator Mike Crapo is now accepting internship applications from students wishing to work in his Washington, D.C. office during summer and fall semesters of 2004. The applications for both semesters are due April 1st. â??The experience offered through a Washington, D.C. Senate internship is invaluable in understanding how Congress works and affects our everyday lives,â?? Crapo said. â??It can give Idaho students a unique perspective on national events and legislative issues. It is also great preparation for students entering a competitive job market. Many of my former interns have continued their interest in politics beyond their college experiences, even ending up on congressional staffs, both in Idaho and D.C.â?? Intern duties include legislative support and research, assisting with constituent response, answering phones, and administrative tasks.Summer internships run from June 1st to August 30th, while fall internships run from September 1st to December 15th. Applications are available on the Internet at www.crapo.senate.gov or at Crapoâ??s local offices. Students should complete the application, submit an essay explaining their desire to work as an intern, provide three letters of recommendation, a resume, and a current copy of their college transcript. The transcript does not have to be official. Due to delays in mail service to Capitol Hill, applicants are asked to fax completed applications to Senator Crapoâ??s office at (202) 228-1375.
