Two new staff members hired, D.C. staffer takes on new responsibilities
Washington, DC â??Two new staff members have joined Idaho Senator Mike Crapoâ??s staff in Washington, D.C., both with strong educational and professional experience. In addition, a current staffer has taken on a new area of responsibility. Mary Klappa brings years of experience to her new position as Crapoâ??s Executive Assistant. She comes from Representative John Micaâ??s (R-FL) office where she held the same position. Prior to her work for Rep. Mica, Klappa was Director of Scheduling for Senator Larry Pressler (R-SD), and had the privilege to work on the staff of former First Lady Nancy Reagan. She holds a degree from the Juilliard School of Music in Harp Performance. Barrett Thornhill will handle healthcare, Social Security, and abortion issues for the Senator. Prior to joining Senator Crapoâ??s office, Thornhill worked as a Legislative Assistant for Representative Charlie Norwood (R-GA), and assisted with issues before the Energy and Commerce Healthcare subcommittee. Most recently, Thornhill handled healthcare for Representative Pat Toomey (R-PA), working on issues such as Medicare reform, pharmaceutical reimportation, and medical liability reform. He received his BA in Government and Classical Archaeology from Dartmouth College. Emily McClure, a staff member since June 2002, will now work on Economic Development in addition to Education, Arts, and Labor which she currently handles. # # #
