Crapo Comments on President Trump's Proposed Action in Afghanistan

Idaho Senator Mike Crapo commented Tuesday following President Trump’s proposed action in Afghanistan:

“I supported our initial engagement in Afghanistan because we had a legitimate concern that our national security was at stake.  The Taliban, al Qaeda and others were setting up safe havens of terrorism to target our nation and others.  We need to follow the advice of our military leadership and it appears the President is doing that.  America must allow our commanders and military personnel on the ground to have the rules of engagement to do what it takes to remove these threats. We should not continue to pursue policies that lead to permanent occupation of Afghanistan.”
