Senator Crapo, Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, issued this statement regarding the Treasury Report response to the Executive Order on Core Principles for Regulating the U.S. Financial System.
“I am very encouraged by the Treasury report issued yesterday in accordance with the President’s Executive Order on Core Principles for Regulating the U.S. Financial System. This report is an important step in the effort to evaluate the effectiveness of the post-crisis regulatory regime, and I commend the work and outreach done by Secretary Mnuchin and his staff. The report includes reasonable and meaningful recommendations to the existing, and all too often, one-size-fits-all regulatory landscape. While I am still going through the report, I am encouraged by its recognition that rules need to be better tailored and look forward to working with my colleagues to pass bipartisan legislation, where required, to address many of the report’s highlighted issues and recommendations.”
