Deadline to apply for Spring 2018 Semester is October 16
Washington, D.C. -The deadline is rapidly approaching for Idaho students to apply for internship opportunities in U.S. Senator Mike Crapo's Washington, D.C., office, or one of his six regional offices throughout Idaho. Students who wish to be considered for a spring 2018 internship should submit their applications no later than Monday, October 16.
The internship experience provides Idaho students a unique opportunity to learn about Congress and the legislative process firsthand. Interns assist the Senator and his staff with legislative research, constituent services and communications operations, as well as attend congressional hearings and provide tours of the U.S. Capitol to visiting Idahoans.
“While interning in Washington, D.C., I got to see firsthand how the communications, constituent services and legislative processes work. I witnessed the exchange of ideas among staff, the Senator and Idaho constituents, and learned that long-term, meaningful change doesn’t happen overnight,” said Matthew Langseth of Arco, who served as an intern in Crapo’s Washington office. “In addition, I learned various pieces of history about the U.S. Capitol, connected with other members of Congress on the Hill and solidified my decision to continue to seek a career in public service.”
"My experience as an intern was truly irreplaceable. Beyond the relationships and network you create, each day will enrich your professional resume. I sharpened my skills in real world problem solving, customer service, office management and various areas of politics,” added Taylor Lance, a Boise State University graduate who served as an intern in Crapo’s Boise office and is the current Miss Idaho. “This internship is not just for those looking for a career in public service. I would recommend it for anyone, especially those in career fields that require great people skills."
