U.S. National Debt:

Crapo Joins Colleagues in Urging Departments of Defense, Labor & Education to Highlight Military Career Options

Washington, D.C.--U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) joined his colleagues in urging Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Ashish Vazirani to encourage collaboration between the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Department of Labor to better recognize military service and enlistment as rewarding and successful career options.

“We feel that our schools must have insight into post-high school outcomes for all students, including those who enter the military,” the Senators wrote.  “An educator’s ability to accurately communicate the benefits of all available career paths, including military enlistment, is essential when preparing students for college and other future careers.  As Senators committed to supporting our military and educations systems, we emphasize the importance of their request and encourage the DoD to prioritize engaging with our states on this matter.”

Crapo was joined by Senators Jerry Moran (R-Kansas), Bill Cassidy (R-Louisiana), Shelley Moore Capito (R-West Virginia), Bill Hagerty (R-Tennessee), Maggie Hassan (D-New Hampshire), Tim Kaine (D-Virginia), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nevada), Roger Marshall (R-Kansas), Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut), Patty Murray (D-Washington), Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Kyrsten Sinema (I-Arizona) and Thom Tillis (R-North Carolina) on the letter.
