Crapo: Marco Rubio Will Advance America’s Interests

Washington, D.C.--U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) issued the following statement after the Senate confirmed, by a vote of 99-0, Marco Rubio be Secretary of the U.S. Department of State:

“Marco Rubio has been a friend and colleague throughout his tenure in the Senate.  I could not think of a better candidate to serve at the helm of the agency tasked with managing the United States’ foreign policy.  Marco is a force to be reckoned with in demonstrating peace through strength.  His leadership on foreign policy issues in the Senate has exemplified his commitment to countering malign actions from our adversaries like Cuba, China, Russia, Venezuela and North Korea.  He has been a staunch supporter of those fleeing illegitimate communist regimes and pursuing freedom and democracy across the globe.  Marco will place strong emphasis on advancing America and our interests, not seeking to appease tyrants or delusional ideologies ignorant of global threats. Secretary Rubio will put America and our security first. I congratulate him on his confirmation.”
