Crapo: Mountain Home Air Force Base Has It All

Congratulates the Air Force base on its latest award

Washington, DC - Idaho Senator Mike Crapo today congratulated the staff and airmen at Mountain Home Air Force Base for their second top award in a year-this one coming in the culinary arts category. Last April, Mountain Home Air Force Base was named the best installation in the Air Force by winning the 2007 Commander-in-Chief's Annual Award for Installation Excellence.

Now, Mountain Home can also brag about having the best food in the Air Force after winning the Best Food Award following a visit by a military evaluation team. The 366th Services Squadron has owned the John L. Hennessy trophy for excellence the past three years at the Air Combat Command level. This year is the first time Mountain Home Air Force Base has won the award at the Air Force level.

"Congratulations on putting achievement, excellence and teamwork first, and bringing them all together for this tremendous accomplishment," Crapo wrote. "I join with all Idahoans to salute the best of the best-the airmen of Mountain Home Air Force Base. The awards collected by the men and women of Mountain Home Air Force Base reflect the profound dedication to service in and defense of our freedom."

Crapo visited Mountain Home last summer to participate in the annual Air Force Appreciation Day Parade. He also congratulated Mountain Home Air Force Base on its smooth transition from housing the wing's F-16 Fighting Falcons to the new F-15E Strike Eagle.
