Crapo, National Director Will Keynote 10th Anniversary Of Idaho Coalition Against Sexual And Domestic Violence Event

Visit comes as Senate votes to strengthen victimsâ?? rights

Washington, DC - Advocates in the fight to prevent domestic violence in Idaho will get a report on the latest Congressional efforts regarding abuse and violence against women Friday evening at the 10th Anniversary of the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence banquet. Idaho Senator Mike Crapo will keynote a dinner gathering in Boise with Lynn Rosenthal, Executive Director for the National Network to End Domestic Violence. Sue Fellen, Executive Director for the Idaho Coalition, Board president Dolores Larsen, and legal counsel and former State Supreme Court Justice Cathy Silak will also attend.Crapo was named by the Idaho Coalition to be the spokesperson for an upcoming television and radio campaign seeking to raise awareness about domestic violence and how help is available for victims of abuse. Crapo today voted to support legislation strengthening the rights of crime victims in federal cases. The bill approved by the Senate includes grants to victimsâ?? rights groups and funding to help victims ensure that their rights under state law are fully enforced.Crapo has been singled out by national and state groups for his work to increase services and assistance available under the Violence Against Women Act as well as his successful effort to include women in dating relationships for federal assistance under the â??Cassieâ??s Lawâ?? model he took to Washington, DC.
