Idaho Senator Mike Crapo today voted to oppose the omnibus spending bill passed yesterday by the House of Representatives. Crapo issued this statement following the vote.
“As a senior member of both the Senate Budget and Finance Committees, I have worked to advance responsible, comprehensive solutions that address our mounting debt, rein in spending and tackle the long-term drivers of our deficits. While the bill passed by Congress today does contain good policy measures, such as strengthening our national defense, investing in our border security, and funding priorities for Idaho, it does not go far enough to address our nation’s fiscal health. This measure will fund the government until September 30, providing us another opportunity to tackle our debt. As that process unfolds, I will work with my colleagues and the Administration to ensure that it helps address our nation’s long-term fiscal demands while funding the priorities important to Idahoans.”
