Washington, D.C.--U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) released the following statement after the U.S. Senate unanimously confirmed Elaine Clegg as a member of the Amtrak Board of Directors.
“Elaine Clegg’s appointment gives Idaho a voice on the Amtrak Board,” said Crapo. “She has been a great champion for expanding Amtrak service back into Idaho for many years, and I look forward to her tenure in this new role.”
The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation approved Clegg’s nomination to the Amtrak Board of Directors on December 12, 2024.
Clegg currently serves as the CEO of Valley Regional Transit. She served on the Boise City Council for nearly 20 years. Clegg has led various efforts to reestablish passenger rail in Idaho and the greater Northwest. She has held the Chair or President position on the boards of Valley Regional Transit, the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho, the Association of Idaho Cities at the state level, the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations and the National League of Cities Transportation Infrastructure Services Committee nationally.
