Crapo Statement on Lower Snake River White House Report

Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) released the following statement regarding the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) draft report advocating for breaching at least one of the Lower Snake River dams to improve salmon populations.

“In light of the secretive reports conducted with little to no input from Idahoans, I must oppose the Biden Administration’s efforts to breach the four Lower Snake Dams.  The collaboration needed to form a consensus on a recovery plan has not happened. Absent that consensus, I oppose dam breaching.  Over the past few decades, we have learned that politicians alone can’t improve salmon populations.  Leadership and cooperation is required by all--private, public and advocates--to build a path toward solution.”
