Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) issued the following statement after learning that former U.S. Senator Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma) had passed away:
“I am saddened to learn of the passing of my friend Tom. His unmatched service to his constituents and the American taxpayer will be missed. He devoted his public service career to eliminating waste, fraud and abuse within the federal government. We had the opportunity to work together on the National Commission on Fiscal Policy and Reform, and later on the bipartisan Gang of Six to rein in the national debt. He provided me with great wisdom and counsel over our tenure together. The U.S. Senate and the people of Oklahoma have lost an outstanding and devoted leader. I will miss his passion and friendship, and send my deepest condolences to his wife, Carolyn, and his children and grandchildren.”
