Crapo Supports Secretary Esper Confirmation at Defense Department

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Mike Crapo issued the following statement following the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Dr. Mark Esper to serve as U.S. Secretary of the Department of Defense (DOD):

“I congratulate Secretary Esper on his confirmation.  He has a wealth of experience and knowledge in matters of defense.  Through his extensive background, Secretary Esper has demonstrated his commitment to sound, principled decisions at the highest levels of U.S. military operations.  The women and men of the U.S. Armed Forces, including those at Mountain Home Air Force Base, the Idaho National Guard, Bayview Navy Base and Idahoans serving around the globe, deserve his level of commitment to ensuring they receive the proper training, resources and support to conduct their jobs at home and abroad.  The Pentagon requires steady, decisive leadership to address its many evolving missions and Secretary Esper is the right man for the job.”

Dr. Mark T. Esper is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point.  He holds a master’s degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from George Washington University.  He has served in various admirable capacities in the U.S. Army, in Congress, the Executive Branch, in corporate governance, and as Secretary of the Army.  He has received numerous awards for his education, leadership and experience.
