U.S. National Debt:

Crapo To Award Purple Heart, Honor Women In History

Special guest at investor forum during Boise visit on Monday

Washington, DC -Staff Sgt. Donald Cobb, a Nampa resident, will receive the Purple Heart for his military service and sacrifice in Iraq from Idaho Senator Mike Crapo next week. Cobb was injured in multiple roadside bomb explosions during deployment to Iraq. Cobb, who was deployed with the 116th Calvary Brigade from Idaho, was reassigned to the 163rd Infantry Battalion while in Iraq. He was among the Idaho servicemen and women visited by Crapo during a visit to Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas in July 2004 as the troops deployed to Iraq.

Crapo will use the backdrop of dramatic technical changes in Idaho's state libraries to highlight the service of women during a Boise visit next week. Crapo will donate books from the Library of Congress on women who have served in Congress during an event at the Idaho Commission on Libraries. The Commission is now showcasing new technology making books and written materials available statewide for the first time.

At a financial forum in Boise on Monday evening, Crapo, who serves on the Senate Banking and Finance Committees, will address issues related to the national economy and federal legislation. The forum is sponsored by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the largest non-governmental regulator for all securities firms doing business in the United States.

Economic issues will also be a part of Crapo's remarks earlier in the day to the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce. Crapo's will keynote the Chamber's Legislative Luncheon and take questions.
