U.S. National Debt:

Crapo to Discuss the Federal Debt and Deficit

Encourages Idahoans to join the iTownhall forum on July 13

Washington, DC - With critical votes on the federal debt and deficit crisis approaching in the Senate, Idaho Senator Mike Crapo will discuss the federal budget, deficit spending and related issues with Idahoans during a telephone town hall event.  Crapo invites interested constituents to make arrangements to participate in his iTownhall meeting, which begins at 7:00 p.m. Mountain Time/6:00 p.m. Pacific on Wednesday, July 13.

To sign up for the iTownhall meeting, please visit Senator Crapo's website, http://crapo.senate.gov, and click on the iTownhall icon.  You will be directed to send an e-mail request with your contact information.

In order to participate in the meeting, all you need is a telephone.  Participation is voluntary, and listeners are given an opportunity to ask the Senator about topics regarding federal policies or legislation.  To ensure participation, it is best to sign up two days prior to the event.

"The single greatest issue facing the nation is the ever increasing federal deficit," says Crapo.  "Congress, and particularly the Senate, needs to engage fully on a course of bold and productive actions to end the debt crisis in America that is stifling the economy and stalling the fragile recovery.  I want Idahoans to be a part of that discussion and that is why I am encouraging all interested Idahoans to participate in my upcoming iTownhall forum where we will discuss these and other important national issues."

Following the call, an audio file (MP3) of the full call will be posted on the website.  A transcript will be posted at a later date.
