Boise - Idaho Senator Mike Crapo will finish holding a town meeting in every incorporated city in Idaho when he visits Wardner City Hall, this coming Thursday in the Silver Valley of north Idaho. The Wardner town meeting, number 200, will be preceded by meetings in State Line, Onaway and Smelterville.
Crapo announced his intention to hold a town meeting in every incorporated city in Idaho about 22 months ago. Over the last two years, he has started every town meeting with a presentation about the rising federal debt, which has grown from nearly $18 trillion to nearly $20 trillion during that same time period.
The meetings began October 8, 2014, in Moyie Springs at the Idaho Forest Products sawmill. Between then and now, Crapo has crisscrossed the state, racking up hundreds of thousands of miles and has even been greeted with handmade signs, as was seen in White Bird. In Clayton, more people came out than the population of the town. Close to 4,000 Idahoans attended the town meetings, which included a few unincorporated towns, too. At meetings held in Shoshone and Bellevue, local Boy Scouts provided the flag ceremonies.
"The Idahoans I have encountered during these town meetings reinforced my belief that the best solutions for good governing come from the ground up," Crapo said. "The common sense we have in Idaho is what is needed back in Washington, DC."
