U.S. National Debt:

Crapo Votes For Iraq Funding

Cites troop support, progress in rebuilding Iraq, foreign partnerships

Boise - Idaho Senator Mike Crapo joined with the majority on an 87-12 bipartisan vote this afternoon as the U.S. Senate approved $87 billion in emergency supplemental funding for the continuing reconstruction efforts in Iraq. Crapo said the funding contained in S. 1689 is needed as the best course of action to guarantee support and security for U.S. troops, to assist others in the rebuilding of the country, and to augment UN agreements building an international coalition that will assist the U.S. and Iraq.â??The President and our military have fought hard to win this war, and the President has fought hard for the approval of a new UN Security Council resolution that will expand international participation in stabilizing and rebuilding Iraq,â?? Crapo said. â??This is not the time to turn our backs on those efforts.â??# # #
