Congressional Management Foundation judges U.S. Senate websites
Washington, D.C. - Idaho Senator Mike Crapo's official website, https://www.crapo.senate.gov., has been named the top Republican website in the U.S. Senate by the independent Congressional Management Foundation (CMF). Crapo's site was issued the Silver Mouse Award for the 113 th Congress, the only Senate Republican to be awarded an honor in the Gold and Silver categories. A total of 70 personal office and committee websites in Congress received a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Award.
The Congressional Management Foundation has been studying online communications in Congress since 1998, and issues annual reports for what it determines to be the best sites based on interaction with the constituents on the Internet. The CMF says reviewers ranked websites based on criteria including usability and timeliness of information; amount of content regarding issues and constituent services and diversity of supplying the information. Crapo's office previously won a Gold Mouse Award in 2011 and Silver Mouse Awards in 2009 and 2007.
"My office has worked to expand our social media contact with Idahoans over the past few years," Crapo noted. "Tools like YouTube and Facebook provide Idahoans another avenue to stay informed on the issues pending before Congress, as well as access to frequent updates on my work in the U.S. Senate and throughout Idaho. We have also begun utilizing additional interactive platforms, such as Twitter, Vine and Instagram, so that Idahoans can continue to make their voices heard in our increasingly digital age."
