Senator named "True Blue" for votes on health care, crime
Washington, DC - Idaho Senator Mike Crapo has been award the national "True Blue" award by the Family Research Council (FRC) and Focus on the Family for his voting record in the Senate regarding family issues. FRC and Focus on the Family presented the award this morning in Washington, DC.
The family groups say the annual award goes to Members of Congress who have exhibited extraordinary leadership and commitment to the defense of family, faith and freedom, according to the FRC Action's scorecard of votes during the 1st session of the 110th Congress. The groups note Crapo has voted consistently with them on pro-family and pro-life issues, and on specific votes dealing with health care coverage for unborn children, crimes against families and stem cell research.
"Issues of family and faith frame many of the comments I hear from Idahoans, whether in person or by phone and e-mail at my website," Crapo said. "I am honored by this award, but it is really the grassroots efforts of these family groups that deserve the recognition today."
"The Members of the 110th Congress who received this award have been consistent, stalwart allies of American families," said FRC Action President Tony Perkins. "These Members are to be commended for supporting public policy that values human life, protects our religious liberties, and upholds the institutions of marriage and the family."
Crapo earned the "True Blue" award twice previously during the 108th Congress.
