U.S. National Debt:

Funding Advances Owyhee Implementation

Crapo plans announcement Friday

Boise - The implementation of provisions under the Owyhee Initiative land management legislation guided into law by Idaho Senator Mike Crapo will take a major step on Friday. Crapo will join officials with the U.S. Department of Interior's Bureau of Land Management and Owyhee County representatives and landowner interests to announce funding that further implements the Owyhee Public Land Management Act that was signed into law last year as part of an omnibus lands bill.

WHAT: Idaho Senator Mike Crapo to announce the release by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) of over $2 million in funding, which will be used to purchase wilderness in-holdings of private land on a willing-buyer, willing-seller basis. This vital funding is derived through BLM's Boise District local land sales.

WHEN: Friday, August 13, 2010, 11:00 a.m.

WHERE: BLM Boise District Office, 3948 S. Development Ave, Outside. (Take Vista Ave. over I-84 overpass and take left at the light onto Airport Way. Follow Airport Way about ½-mile to Development Ave. The BLM District Office is on the left past the Idaho Cattle Association and Wildland Fire Fighter Foundation.)

WHY: This and other funding are key components to continuing the implementation of the Owyhee Public Land Management Act.
