Idaho, U.S. Beef Producers Regain Exports to China

Agreement reopens Chinese market for first time since 2003

Washington, D.C. – Idaho Senator Mike Crapo joined his colleagues in the Senate Western Caucus today in hailing a trade agreement between the U.S. and China that will reopen the Chinese market to U.S.-produced beef for the first time since 2003.  Crapo noted that cattle industry experts have noted China has become one of the world’s largest importers for beef.

“The removal of this ban is long overdue. This extended ban on U.S. beef imports was unnecessary and placed American ranchers at a competitive disadvantage. Idaho, as well as ranchers nationwide, will again have access to China’s strong market and growing demand for quality American beef.”
