Crapo, CTAI, veterans plan demonstration of FindMyIdahoRide.org
Boise. - A new service offered to military veterans, their families and other Idahoans to make transportation options easier to find will be unveiled Tuesday at the Idaho Statehouse. Idaho Senator Mike Crapo worked with the Community Transportation Association of Idaho (CTAI), local veterans' service groups, the Idaho Division of Veterans Services, the U.S. Department of Transportation and M2 Traffic Management, LLC to establish the new transportation resource directory for Idaho, FindMyIdahoRide.org.
CTAI, Crapo and others will demonstrate how easy it will now be for veterans and other Idahoans to find transportation to and from medical appointments, work, education and for other uses. Idaho's "One-Click" program joins those in other states being established under federal and local grant programs. Crapo advocated on behalf of Idaho veterans and CTAI for the funding.
"Many Idaho veterans live in rural and suburban communities with limited transportation services while many of the services are concentrated in cities and urban areas," said Crapo, Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, with jurisdiction over mass transit issues. "The transportation resource directory resulting from this project will help connect veterans and their families to the transportation options available in their communities and throughout the state."
"We are excited to release FindMyIdahoRide.org, a new statewide transportation directory." stated Heather Wheeler, CTAI Executive Director. "When it comes to connecting our veterans to the services they need, transportation is often the missing link and we need to close that gap whenever possible. FindMyIdahoRide.org will help veterans, their families, and Idahoans find transportation to the education, medical care and work they need to make our communities strong." she added.
