Spirit Of Idaho Awards To Be Given

Blaine County residents receive honor for service to community

Washington, D.C. â?? Idaho Senator Mike Crapo will present two Blaine County residents with Spirit of Idaho awards at a ceremony to be held in their honor on August 21 in Memory Park in Ketchum, Idaho. The two women are being recognized for the efforts to improve the quality of life in Blaine County.Jenny Busdon, originally from Great Britain and a world champion gold medal recipient in cross country skiing, has worked on multiple fundraising projects over the past decade to benefit the Harriman Trail system and Galena Lodge in Sun Valley. She promotes increased participation in the sport of cross country skiing and overall awareness of the sport. Carol Harlig, a two-time breast cancer survivor, mentors others with the disease and serves on numerous community boards for breast cancer awareness, as well as the Ketchum library. She also mentors at-risk elementary school children.â??These women exemplify the true â??Spirit of Idaho,â?? said Crapo. â??Jenny and Carol have demonstrated a commitment to their community, and have utilized their individual strengths to make a difference in the lives of those around them.â?? â??Idaho is a better place because of the volunteer efforts of these outstanding women.â??Spirit of Idaho awards are presented to Idahoans who have made significant contributions to their communities, making Idaho an even better place to live. The first Spirit of Idaho award was presented in November of 2000; since that time, more than 100 Idahoans have been honored for their efforts to improve their local communities and the quality of life in Idaho.# # #
